Hello, my name is Jackie. I am the owner and hands behind Yarn & Marble.

I started up Yarn & Marble several months after I first began crocheting in 2020. It started with a winter headband and a stuffed koala toy, during the long series of COVID-19 lockdowns in Melbourne. This followed the obsession with baking bread, binging on the entire seasons of Friends, growing a vegie patch and etc.

Most people would probably describe me as the creative and artsy-fartsy type. Yeah, I am one of ‘those people’. I can never sit still so I am always looking for something to do in my spare time, even if it’s to mist all of my indoor plants. I even tried painting canvases and pots at one stage to fill the creative void and boredom, before I picked up the crochet hook. Although, unlike everything else, crochet really stuck with me.

With the support of my friends and family, I turned crocheting into a side hustle. I do have a full-time job (as a boring non-creative professional) but this gives me something to look forward to at the end of each day. Crochet projects do take a lot of time but I find it so cathartic, especially during these strange and precarious times. It just makes me wish there were more hours in the day.

Most importantly, I am glad to become part of an inspiring and supportive community of Aussie makers, small business owners, side hustlers and boss ladies.
