FAQs

  • Directly from Wikipedia:

“Amigurumi (Japanese: 編みぐるみ, lit. "crocheted or knitted stuffed toy") is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures. The word is a compound of the Japanese words 編み ami, meaning "crocheted or knitted", and 包み kurumi, literally "wrapping", as in 縫い包み nuigurumi "(sewn) stuffed doll".

Amigurumi vary in size and there are no restrictions about size or look.”

In your message, tell us what you you would like to be made. You can also attach a photo with your request so that we can get a good idea of what you would like.

We aim to respond to you within 24-48 hours with some pictures or sketches of what your item will look like.

Once you are happy with the proposed design, we will direct you to the product page on our website where you can finalise your order.

  • You will need to allow a minimum of 2 weeks for items that are custom-made or made-to-order. Crocheted items do take some time (and love) to make. On average, one toy takes approximately 10 hours. Please be patient as we only have one set of hands for all our creations.

Tip: Place in your order nice and early to make sure it arrives on time.

  • Overall, the best way to wash our handmade crocheted items is by cold handwash.

Most products can also be machine washed with cold water only, particularly blankets and beanies. Handmade toys and more smaller items may need to be handled more delicately in a laundry bag or on a low spin cycle.

When in doubt, cold handwash only to prevent shrinkage and/or other damage.

  • Safety eyes are small plastic eyes that are snapped firmly with a washer inside the toy. Despite its name, small plastic items can pose risks to young children and therefore stiched eyes provide a much safer option.

Product safety laws in Australia require businesses to comply with mandatory standards and bans on the design and construction of toys for children up to and including 36 months. It was created to reduce the chances of small parts coming off toys during play or after reasonable wear and tear. This is to prevent choking or suffocation.

Therefore, it is important that you identify the age of the child who will be gifted with one of our toys to ensure that safety eyes will not present as a choking hazard to children who are 36 months or younger.

  • Currently, we are only accepting orders for those that can be picked up locally (Melbourne) or shipped to any location in Australia for a flat fee of AU$10.00. International shipping costs can cost up to AU$35.00 with AusPost and therefore, we will not ask you to pay these fees until we find something much more cost effective.
